10.1.9. System of ignition

The system of ignition — battery, contactless — consists of the coil of ignition, the switchboard, the sensor distributor of ignition, spark plugs, tips of candles, wires of low and high voltage. The scheme of system of ignition is shown on the scheme of an elektorooborudovaniye of cars.

Ignition coil
The coil of ignition is a transformer on which iron core it is reeled up secondary, and from above its primary windings. The core with windings is installed in the tight steel case filled with oil and closed by a high-voltage plastic cover.
Maintenance of the coil of ignition
For protection from possible breakdown of a plastic cover the coil of ignition needs to be cleared of dirt, dust and oil, to check reliability of fastening of wires of high and low voltage.
Check of a condition of the coil.
In the malfunction coil most often appear from behind its overheat and work with the increased gaps of candles.
Before removing the ignition coil for replacement, it is necessary to be convinced of serviceability and reliability of accession of wires to coil conclusions. It is necessary to check the coil at the special stand of the K-295 model.
The serviceable coil has to provide uninterrupted sparking on a three-electrode needle rated sportsman with a spark gap of 7 mm with a frequency of 2500 min.-1 of the roller of the sensor distributor, not less.
If uninterrupted sparking owing to breakdown of isolation of the coil, mezhvitkovy short circuit, chips and cracks of a plastic cover, a progar of a cover, depressurization of the case and an effluence of oil is not provided, it is necessary to replace the coil.

The sensor distributor (fig. 9.28) is a set of the magnetoelectric sensor and distributor of impulses of high voltage.
The roller of the sensor distributor is given to rotation from a gear wheel of the drive of the oil pump.
The centrifugal regulator of an advancing of ignition automatically changes an ignition advancing corner depending on the frequency of rotation of the roller of the sensor distributor.
The vacuum regulator of an advancing of ignition automatically changes an ignition advancing corner depending on load of the engine. Parameters of these regulators are specified below in tab. 9.6.

Manual adjustment (at installation of ignition) is carried out by turn of the sensor distributor in the drive case. For turn it is necessary to release a bolt of fastening of the sensor distributor. The turn of the case of the sensor distributor on one division of a scale corresponds to change of a corner of an advancing on 2 ° (on an angle of rotation of a bent shaft).
Maintenance of the sensor distributor
Correctly and in due time held preventive events prevent emergence of malfunctions and increase sensor distributor service life.
At each TO-2 it is necessary to remove a high-voltage cover and the runner of the sensor distributor and to drip 4 — 5 drops of engine oil on фильц (for greasing of mobile parts of a rotor).
It is necessary to monitor fastening of the sensor distributor. If by effort of a hand the sensor distributor turns, then it should be fixed, previously having checked correctness of installation of an initial corner of ignition; if it is necessary, to establish an initial corner.
The cover of the sensor distributor needs to be rubbed off carefully outside and from within the fabric moistened in pure gasoline. It is attentive to check whether there is in a cover and the runner of cracks or traces of breakdown by a spark and no considerable obgoraniye or corrosion of electrodes of a cover and a tokoraznosny plate of the runner. Obgoraniye of face surfaces of a tokoraznosny plate of the runner and electrodes of a cover points to excessively big radial gap between a tokoraznosny plate and electrodes. The cover or the runner in this case should be replaced.
If the cover or the runner have no damage traces, it is necessary to wipe carefully burned places of electrodes of a cover and a plate of the runner with the fabric which is slightly moistened in gasoline.
It is impossible to smooth out the specified places a file. It leads to increase in gaps between a tokoraznosny plate of the runner and electrodes of a cover and further — to breakdown of a cover or the runner.
Wires of high voltage have to be against the stop inserted into cover conclusions densely. Obgoraniye and an erosion on an internal surface of nests of a cover demonstrate that the wire is established without fixing. If the wire poorly keeps in a nest, it is necessary to part slightly previously petals of a spring tip of a wire and to insert it into a nest against the stop.
Emergence of an additional spark interval in a chain of high voltage because of installation of wires of high voltage in cover conclusions without fixing usually leads to cover plastic burning out with the subsequent exit it out of operation.
If necessary the sensor distributor can be checked at the special stand of the K295 or K297 model. In the absence of the stand it is necessary to check the centrifugal regulator for lack of jamming. Most just it can be made, having checked whether the runner comes back to a starting position easily if to turn it a hand of rather motionless roller, and then to release.
The sensor distributor with the faulty centrifugal regulator is subject to repair or replacement.
Adjustment of the regulator is made by change of a tension of springs of small weights at the expense of a podgibaniye of racks on which they are fixed.
The small spring of the centrifugal regulator (weaker) has to have a preliminary tightness in an initial state that is provided with the provision of a rack of springs.
Repair of the sensor distributor
Repair of the sensor distributor consists in replacement of worn-out or faulty details with the adjustment obligatory after that providing compliance of characteristics of regulators to the parameters stated above.
Dismantling. Dismantling of the sensor distributor for repair needs to be carried out in the following order:
- to uncover 11 and the runner 15 (see fig. 9.28);
- to remove a conclusion of low voltage;
- to unscrew three screws 19 of fastening of the stator 20 and to remove it;
- to remove felt фильц 16 and to unscrew the screw 17 of fastening of a rotor 10 and to remove it;
- to remove the vacuum regulator 4;
- to unscrew two screws 3 and to remove a stator support with the bearing 23;
- if necessary to remove springs 24 and a mobile plate of the centrifugal regulator;
- if necessary to remove a lock ring 30 from the coupling 32 rollers;
- to beat out a pin 31 of the coupling of the roller and to remove the roller.
Check of a condition of details.
The cover and the runner need to be wiped periodically carefully. Especially carefully to wipe nests of conclusions of high-voltage wires of a cover. Conclusions in a cover and a tokoraznosny plate need to be wiped without use of any tool as it can increase a gap in a high-voltage chain that is inadmissible. The cover and the runner with cracks and progara are subject to replacement.
To check whether the central contact of a cover freely moves.
The runner has to be installed densely on a rotor. In a nest of the runner to check existence of a flat spring.
To examine the internal surface of the stator. On poles of a magnetic conductor there should not be traces from a zadevaniye of poles of a rotor. To check the stator winding resistance which has to be 400 — 450 Ohms, and also integrity of the wire connecting a stator conclusion to a sensor conclusion.
To examine an external surface of a magnetic conductor of a rotor. In poles of a magnetic conductor there should not be zadevaniye traces for the stator. To check a radial side play of a rotor on the roller which has to be no more than 0,2 mm. In the presence of iznos on the roller or a rotor to replace them.
To check bearings for lack of jamming. In the presence of a side play in the bearing it needs to be replaced. If necessary the bearing to wash out and fill on 2/3 volumes with TsIATIM-221 lubricant. To check serviceability of the conductor connecting a support to the case.
To check whether there is no wear of a thorn of the coupling. With wear the coupling needs to be replaced. To check small weights on axes for lack of jamming.
In the presence of a radial side play of the roller higher than 0,2 mm need to be replaced bronze-and-graphite plugs. Diameters of the roller have to be within 12,70,2 and 8,5 mm, and their beating relatively each other should not exceed 0,01 mm. If wear exceeds the specified admissions, the roller should be replaced.
Worn-out plugs to vypressovat and press new. After a press fitting to develop them to diameter of 12,7 mm.
Assembly.
Assembly of the sensor distributor is made as it should be, the return to dismantling. Before assembly it is necessary to grease with TsIATIM-221 lubricant all working surfaces of details (the roller, the bearing, etc.). At assembly it is necessary to adjust by means of adjusting washers a longitudinal side play of the roller and a rotor within 0,05 — 0,2 mm. After the sensor it is necessary to check at the K295 stand or similar to it. The vacuum regulator is not adjusted.
The centrifugal regulator is adjusted subflexible racks of springs. On the idle engine the adjusting corner of an advancing of ignition at the end of compression in the first cylinder has to be 5 ° to VMT.
It is necessary for installation of ignition:
- to uncover the sensor distributor; to turn out a candle of the first cylinder;
- to close a finger an opening for a candle of the first cylinder;
- to turn a bent shaft of the engine prior to the beginning of an air outlet from under a finger. It will occur at the beginning of a compression step;
- having convinced that compression began, carefully turning an engine shaft, to establish a corner of an advancing of ignition 5 °.
Thus the second tag on a damping part of a pulley of a bent shaft has to be opposite to an edge index of a cover of distributive gear wheels.
- to weaken a fastening bolt an octane proofreader to the drive and to establish by turn of the case of the sensor distributor an arrow an octane proofreader in the average provision of a scale and to tighten a bolt;
- to weaken a fastening bolt an octane proofreader to the sensor distributor case;
- to press a finger the runner against its rotation (for elimination of gaps in the drive) and to slowly turn the case before combination of a red tag on a rotor with an arrow on the sensor distributor stator;
- to tighten a bolt of fastening of a plate an octane proofreader to the case of the sensor distributor and to establish a sensor distributor cover into place;

- to establish high-voltage wires in a sensor distributor cover according to an operating procedure of cylinders 1-2-4-3 (fig. 9.29).
After installation of ignition to check the accuracy of installation of ignition, wiretapping the engine at the movement of the car. For this purpose to warm up the engine to 60 — 90 °C, moving on direct transfer on the flat road with a speed of 30 — 40 km/h, to give to the car dispersal, it is sharp, to the full, having pressed a pedal of butterfly valves. If the insignificant and short-term detonation is listened at the same time, installation of the moment of ignition is made correctly.
At a strong detonation to turn the sensor distributor case on one division of a scale an octane proofreader counterclockwise (each division of a scale corresponds to turn of a bent shaft on a corner 4 °). At total absence of a detonation to turn the sensor distributor case on one division clockwise, after correction of the moment of ignition to check its correctness, wiretapping the engine at the movement of the car.
To adjust ignition so that at big loading of the engine only the easy detonation was listened. At early ignition when the strong detonation is heard, laying of a head of the block can be punched and burn through valves and pistons. At late ignition fuel consumption sharply grows and the engine overheats.
You make more exact installation of ignition by means of a stroboscope. For this purpose it is necessary:
- to attach the stroboscope sensor distributor to a wire of high voltage of a candle of the first cylinder;
- to get and warm up the engine;
- to check the engine and if necessary to adjust the frequency of rotation of a bent shaft idling within 550 — 650 rpm;
- to include a stroboscope and to direct it to an edge index on a cover of distributive gear wheels, at the same time the edge index and three motionless tags on a pulley damper of a bent shaft have to be visible.
At correctly established ignition opposite to an edge index there has to be a zone between the first and second tags of a pulley damper.
If position of an edge index and tags does not correspond to specified, it is necessary to weaken a bolt of fastening of the sensor distributor to the case of the drive and at the working engine and the included stroboscope to turn the sensor distributor case to optimum position of an edge index and tags. To tighten a bolt.
It is strictly forbidden to leave high-voltage wires with the tips which are not sent in addition in sensor distributor cover nests against the stop as it will lead to a cover progar.
Switchboard
The switchboard is intended for strengthening of signals of the sensor distributor and management of ignition coil current in primary chain.
Operability of the switchboard can be checked at the stand of the K295 or K297 model.
In the absence of the stand it is possible to check the switchboard on the car.
